  • Restock the Classroom

    Funded Feb 7, 2024

I wish to express my heartfelt thanks on behalf of my students and myself regarding the generous donation that we have received.

The notebook paper will, of course, be indispensable when connectivity becomes an insurmountable issue.

The No Fear Shakespeare Hamlet will be of the greatest help to students who struggle with Shakespeare's language. Being able to have the original text and a modern text side-by-side is a great help.

The printer ink will be used daily for hard copies of personalized agendas and many other necessities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Moody

This classroom project was brought to life by Center for Disaster Philanthropy.
  • All Around the Room

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support! The mobile desk will allow me to assist students with all my materials without having to go back and forth from my desk to their desks. It also serves as a much needed and useful lectern, which is not only utilized by me but is also used by my students for oral presentations. My students were actually very excited to put it together for me and to speculate on its uses. We did a brainstorming session to come up with all the ways that we can use it in the classroom. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Moody

  • Protecting Ourselves to Focus on Learning

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Due to your generous gift, my students and I are able to protect our health as much as possible during this unsettling and trying pandemic. The face masks that we received are the best I have ever seen and have met with student appreciation. The sanitizing wipes provide us with additional peace of mind regarding desks, chairs, tables, and other surfaces. The hand sanitizer is used throughout the classes for extra protection against COVID and any other health hazards that exist.

My students and I are truly indebted to your unselfish act of kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Moody

  • Protecting Our Bodies to Improve Our Minds

    Funded Dec 15, 2020

My students and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous gift, which has allowed us to have greater peace of mind in returning to the classroom. The hand sanitizer, masks, and disinfectant wipes are very much appreciated and are being used daily. My students began using these materials BEFORE they walked into the classroom on the first day. Although not all students are in-person right now, I have enough who are that the materials purchased are being used on a daily basis. Again, thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Moody

  • Experiencing a Novel Need Not Be a Novel Experience!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

My students and I are extremely grateful for the generous donations that were given to ensure that everyone has a copy of Jubilee by Margaret Walker. Having copies of the novel has allowed us to read in class and at home. This has spurred many spirited classroom discussions that would not have been possible without the wonderful people who contribute to Donors Choose. Besides discussions, we have been able to participate in creative writing, storyboards, and a plethora of other worthwhile activities that align with state standards for the reading of fiction. We are truly enriched by this experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Moody

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 15 other donors.
My students all are required to read and analyze the same novel for the first nine weeks; however, the cost of the novel is out of reach for my financially challenged, inner-city scholars. Since the novel currently being used is not public domain, it is nearly impossible for them to participate. Having their own personal copies of Jubilee by Margaret Walker will not only allow them to fulfill a district requirement but will also fill them with a sense of pride! The novel will be of such culture significance to them that a sense of excitement is already building regarding the possibility of acquiring these copies.
