Kindergarten students learn through play. My students often have difficulty learning the letters of the alphabet and how to write them. The play dough letters, will not only help them learn the letters but will help develop fine motor skills that will help them when writing the letters. The scented dough will bring in more of the senses to help them retain and be engaged in what they are doing. The mini magic boards will be used at small groups to help students learn how to properly form the letters, then moved to a station so they can have independent practice. The mini boards can also be used during math to learn to write numbers as they learn the name of each number. The nuts and bolt activity will help with learning to associate the number with a corresponding group of objects. The more hands-on that a child can have, the better chance they will retain what is taught. At the beginning of the school year, my students need a lot of help with developing their fine motor skills. These activities and items I have listed will help with fine motor and learning the names of the letters and numbers. The above items will also keep the students engaged by giving them a fun and kinesthetic approach to learning.
