  • Soccer Club

    Funded Nov 3, 2023

I would like to thank you for your generosity in helping me create a successful soccer club. Through the soccer club over 100 kindergartens through 3rd grades were able to engage in a safe fitness experience practicing their soccer skills. The goals enhanced the experience for the students as it provided a realistic soccer pitch setting and allowed vast opportunities for students to test out their goalie skills.

The Soccer club not only provided an opportunity for students to engage, but it allowed parents and family to interact with their student on campus. I look forward to continuing using these materials for the future years of Soccer club for child development and family engagement.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Russow

  • Soccer Goals to Reach Our Goals

    Funded May 22, 2022

I wanted to send out a thank you and an update on the Soccer Goals to Reach Our Goals project that you helped me and my school accomplish. Currently, we are finishing our soccer unit in Physical Education class. Over 600 students have gotten to enjoy playing soccer with actual nets that allows students to practice their goalie skills. The formality of the net has helped ease the learning-curve for students' understanding of the rules and flow of the game.

In addition, to gear up for the World Cup, we created a week long after school soccer league. We had over 100 students sign up from kindergarten through 5th grade. We divided these students into divisions by their grade, being able to create five teams for three different divisions. The excitement only grew as we were approved to open up the gates and allow family members on campus for one of the first times since COVID to watch their child play soccer! We capped the week off with a Saturday tournament where we crowned our league champion and all students earned an award.

I am so thankful for your generosity to help me with this project. Not only did this help the students improve their skills and have fun in class, but it helped create the origins of what could be an annual tradition at my school, our Pre-Thanksgiving Soccer League!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Russow

  • Engaging Physical Fitness

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

Thank you so much for the sports supplies. Having new supplies has allowed my students to increase their gross motor skills and coordination. This project has also allowed me to have enough supplies to follow Covid safely protocols and create a collaborative learning environment. My students are so excited to receive their new foot balls, squishy balls, basketballs and more. They were even more excited to play our first parachute game. There is no greater sound than the laughter that comes from elementary school students crawling under a giant parachute. Thank you again for the donation to my project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Russow

COVID-19 school closures meant that students were not able to physically be on school campuses. They were not given access to recess or physical education classes. While PE was taught online, students were not given the opportunity to play and interact with materials. Returning to school, I have noticed that the physical activity level of the majority of m students has decreased tremendously since the closure. New materials in the physical education classroom engage students and make them excited about fitness and physical activity. With these new materials, we will be able to work on the NVACS standards for Elementary Physical education by practicing and reinforcing movement patterns. It is time to get students interested in physical activity.
