  • Let Our Differences SHINE!

    Funded Jun 22, 2019

Thank you so much for your kind donation to my project. We made t-shirts for our children with disabilities to wear on World Kindness Day!! They were very excited and wore them proudly on campus on November 13. The t-shirts sparked conversations with older typically developing students, who were not familiar with this awareness day. Other students were coming up with ideas for ways to show kindness, and they were happy about sharing them with their classmates. Once again, thank you for making a difference in young children's lives, and for supporting educators.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brashear

  • Little Chairs for Little Bodies!

    Funded Jul 20, 2019

My youngest students have really enjoyed the new table and chairs! Since I work with students from Pre-K3 all the way through 5th grade, I was provided with a "medium" table and "medium" chairs by the campus. However, some of my 3- and 4-year-old little ones were not able to reach the floor with their feet when sitting on the chairs, and the table was too high for them. Last year we had a near-fall when one of the children who has difficulty walking independently attempted to get up from the too-big chair and tried to hold on to the too-flimsy table. It was a big scare and that's what made me decide to post this project, because to me, my students' safety is above anything else. When they saw the new set-up: brand new, bright red, sized just right chairs and matching table, they were super excited and wanted to sit there immediately. It is wonderful to know that my students are now able to have furniture that is appropriately sized, both for comfort and for safety. You have made a real difference in these children's lives, and your kindness will always be remembered.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brashear

I want my students to promote tolerance and acceptance of others regardless of race, religion, sex, or academic as well as physical disabilities. We will use the CriCut MAKER to create t-shirts to wear at school in order to create awareness of diversity, empathy and the effects of bullying. My students with speech and language impairments will all make their own shirts to wear proudly at our campus. The CriCut Maker will help them create clothing with positive sayings which will build character and self esteem along with dealing directly with bullying issue. We will also use the CriCut Maker to create shirts specific to Autism Awareness, Down Syndrome Awareness, and other nationally and internationally recognized awareness events to promote acceptance. We will continue to learn to accept the diversity and differences of others. I want them to celebrate the uniqueness of all people. It will also teach leadership, compassion and acceptance, and how to be a positive role model in the community. We are striving to have a bully-free school environment where they will be able to make a difference.
