This isn't for a classroom, but for our library at our elementary school. The children come from a lot of different backgrounds, most of which live in single parent households, a foster situation, or a grandparent raising them, and they are at or below the poverty level. School is one place that these children feel safe, loved, cared for, and we strive everyday to let them know they can be anything they want to be, no matter their situation. To be able to give them beautiful, colorful new tables and chairs in the library would be just another way that they can see how much they are loved. Every child deserves a relaxing, beautifully decorated library where they can come to read, have stories read to them, and explore, and to let them know that their education does matter and that they are important.
