  • Soar to Math Mastery With IXL

    Funded Mar 22, 2021

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity during this difficult time. IXL is a resource our school successfully used every year, but was cut this year due to funding. Thanks to you, we will now be able to use the program again shortly and provide intervention and enrichment to our 4th and 5th graders in mathematics! My team and I are so thankful for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Little

This classroom project was brought to life by FamilyAlbum and 14 other donors.
  • Prepared for Virtual Learning

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

My team and I are incredibly thankful for your support as we prepared our students for virtual learning. The items purchased have helped keep our students more organized, prepared, and focused.

Our students were very excited to have a pair of earbuds to wear everyday for lessons and activities. Students who have siblings at home appreciate them VERY much because background noise can be drowned out. Additionally, the envelopes and bags provide a place for supplies to stay safe and organized. The sharpeners and pencils allow our students to always have something to write with, ready to go.

Your kindness and generosity are very appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Little

  • Tablets as a Virtual Chalkboard

    Funded Aug 25, 2020

Your kindness and generosity enabled us to purchase XP Pen tablets and create a better learning experience for our students. Having these tablets allows my team and I to continue "writing on the board" as we would in person to model and guide students through various learning experiences. We are able to complete math problems together, highlight and underline in reading passages, fill in graphic organizers, and more because of our tablets.

While virtual learning is not easy. However, you have and continue to help make the experience a more positive one for both students and teachers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Little

  • It's "Time" for Reading!

    Funded Aug 20, 2019

My team and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support of our students. Every time a new issue of Time for Kids arrives, our students are excited and eager to read. Not only do they enjoy the content of the articles, but they also like being able to read about world news on a readability level which is appropriate for their age.

In our 4th grade curriculum, a heavy focus is placed on comprehension of non-fiction text. We have used our Time for Kids magazines to study text features (headings, captions, photographs, maps, diagrams, etc.), which assist all readers in comprehension of content. Our favorite article so far has been the Kindness Matters article from the October issue. In this issue, we learned about a boy who was made fun of for creating his own University of Tennessee shirt for school spirit day. As a result, we created a hallway bulletin board which highlights the random acts of kindness being made in our school. Suggestions for acts of kindness are listed on the bulletin board and students are encouraged to write the names of anyone caught doing these random acts of kindness.

Again, we are truly thankful for your kindness. Your thoughtfulness has and continues to enrich the lives and education of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Little

Time for Kids magazine is an age-appropriate, high-interest magazine with articles about world news, sports, animals, and more. This project will provide each 4th-grade student at our school with their own copy of Time for Kids magazine, 24 times throughout the school year, to use for lessons and activities before bringing home to share with their families. By using high-interest reading material for lessons and activities, students will be more engaged while practicing skills such as main idea and supporting details, making inferences, fact and opinion, text features, and sequencing of events. By reading a variety of articles, students will also be broadening their knowledge on various topics as well as expanding their vocabulary.
