  • Self Regulation Tools for Kindergarteners

    Funded Feb 18, 2021

My students and I are forever grateful for the generous donation you made to ensure our social emotional learning far exceeds the standards. From the literature to the tools, these materials will be used for years to come!

My students were shocked at the donation and so excited to implement the new strategies in our classroom. The books have already helped with self regulation and identifying feelings. The Warmie has calmed children as well.

These skills your materials help me to teach the class are skills that are so important for years to come. Thank you for your donation to our well being!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • At Home Learning Tools

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

These materials have been game changing this year! Having a set for each child on the many Distance Learning days we've had has been so beneficial. I am able to plan lessons knowing that everyone has the needed materials available for them!

This year has been full of uncertainties but the materials we've received as a result of your generosity has been so amazing. Some of my students only have access to math manipulatives, scissors and crayons at school; so being able to send a set home for them has been so helpful.

With this grant I also created a folder for each child to review Kindergarten skills at home. My learners have grown so much this year, even being in and out of school! These resources have impacted them in a big way! And working parents have everything at their fingertips for easy at home instruction.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Let’s Find Out Subscription

    Funded Sep 15, 2020

Thank you so much for your help in securing these Scholastic Let's Find Out Newsletters. The engaging lessons, hands on games, and awesome stories have been a huge asset in our daily learning. The kiddos are always so excited to take them home to share with their families.

The online portion of this program shares some exciting videos that have taught us all so much! From the process of apples being picked for the store, to Martin Luther King Jr. and snow! There have been so many "ah ha" moments created from the use of these fabulous newsletters. Thank you for helping my readers grow!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

In order for children to be successful in school and at home they must have the correct mindset, feel safe, comfortable, and be able to express their emotions. Social Emotional learning is one of the most important things to teach to young children, as well as self regulation. To get a frustrated and upset child to realize what it is that's wrong, getting them to express their emotions, and giving them ways to calm is a main goal for every early childhood educator. Building a classroom community is very important to me. I think lessons that teach children about their choices and the effect they can have on others and learning environments creates a positive atmosphere that allows each child to learn. Teaching kindness and empathy will positively impact each student and when they know that something will make someone else sad and they understand those emotions they are better equipped to do and be better. Calming and safe places and tools throughout the classroom will also aid those students who need a minute to breathe and relax before diving back into classroom work.
