  • Light Up for Learning

    Funded Aug 16, 2024

My class and I are loving these materials for our light table! They are using the manipulatives in play and learning. The blocks are probably their favorite, they build with them on and off the light table.

We are able to incorporate the letters and numbers in many activities. Many students are beginning to spell easy CVC words, and love seeing them on the light table.

Since the materials for the table are translucent, they come through the light and the students think it's so cool. When they're playing with them, they don't realize how much they're learning! Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Items to Close the Gap

    Funded Aug 10, 2023

Thank you for contributing to my classroom and the success of my students! I appreciate your donation! We can’t wait to use these items and learn and grow. Your support means a lot to myself and my students! Thank you again for your kindness and helpful contribution to our future!”

  • Self Regulation Success

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

These items were such a help in the classroom this year. The students used each item with purpose in the safe place and at their desks. We used some items whole group during instruction as well.

The turn windows with the beads were a great help for students to look at while calming. It was like a screen-less video game to them. Having these tools available for the students made a big difference in helping them to regulate on their own as needed.

Thank you for contributing to our classroom and our future!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Building Toys for the Brain

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

My students love utilizing these building toys every day. We begin our day with play and socialization. These toys have added impactful opportunities for my students to engage each day.

The Tinkertoys are probably their favorite right now. They build interesting structures and are so creative. I love giving them the opportunity to make in the mornings. Watching their critical thinking grow with each day. They love working together and figuring things out. This would not be possible without your contribution!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Pretend Play for the Brain

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

Pretend play in early childhood is so important to the development of the brain. It allows the students to work through real world issues, problem solve, learn new things and have fun.

Imagination and creativity are built upon in our dramatic play center. Using the materials from this Donor's Choose, my students are learning so much through play.

The sandwich shop has been a big hit. I've witnessed the students counting money, using manners, turn taking, collaborating and so much more. Developing these important skills through play will create long lasting memories.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Listening for Learning

    Funded Oct 26, 2021

This listening center has been a blast for my students. They are able to control which stories they listen to freely. We thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom!

Listening for learning and enjoyment has allowed my students to use their imagination for the stories. They can easily move the characters for the next story or song, and I am able to work with small groups without being interrupted to assist at the listening center.

They love this new addition to our classroom and I love that we can get more stories easily!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mckenzie

  • Legos for Education

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you for donating to our classroom! Legos are such an important part of learning and play and it is so important for brain development that my students experience both!!

Thanks to your generosity we have a wonderful and creative area in our classroom where the students can collaborate, play and engage with each other. We will use these Legos for many learning activities as well! We truly appreciate you and the gift you've given our classroom.

Thank you for supporting public education and my students!!”

  • STEM Lab Needs Literature

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

These books have been nothing short of inspirational in our school-wide stem lab! The curiosity and knowledge the students have gained is immeasurable.

Thank you for seeing the importance literature has in all areas and donating the funds for us to be able to supply these books. These books will continue to be beneficial for years to come!

I watch the students wonder about certain topics like coding and rollercoasters, full of amazement as they research and learn through these texts. It means the world to us that of all of the projects you chose to give to ours! You are making a difference everyday!”

In order for children to be successful in school and at home they must have the correct mindset, feel safe, comfortable, and be able to express their emotions. Social Emotional learning is one of the most important things to teach to young children, as well as self regulation. To get a frustrated and upset child to realize what it is that's wrong, getting them to express their emotions, and giving them ways to calm is a main goal for every early childhood educator. Building a classroom community is very important to me. I think lessons that teach children about their choices and the effect they can have on others and learning environments creates a positive atmosphere that allows each child to learn. Teaching kindness and empathy will positively impact each student and when they know that something will make someone else sad and they understand those emotions they are better equipped to do and be better. Calming and safe places and tools throughout the classroom will also aid those students who need a minute to breathe and relax before diving back into classroom work.
