  • Outdoor Speaker

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you for supporting our class and school with a portable indoor/outdoor speaker. It has been so fun to use in all sorts of ways.

First, it is a great way to create a fun welcome to start our day. The speaker comes out to arrival duty to play upbeat music as students and families arrive each morning.

It is also fun to use during PE and outdoor playtime. Kids love to dance and sing along as they play with hula hoops and jump ropes.

We also use our speaker inside the classroom for movement and brain breaks. It really has brought our students joy. Thank you!”

  • Letter Sounds for Full Day Kindergarten!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

We have had our new materials for a few weeks now, and we love using our letter sound tubs and our writing boards in our kindergarten classroom!

For each letter we learn about, I take the tub down and we go through the objects inside to see what begins with that letter. If I forget, they remind me because they love to see what's inside. This is an engaging way to reinforce letter sounds that my students love!

We use the writing boards during center time. Students get to use the magnetic letters to spell a word. Then they use the marker and write a sentence using that word, and then they draw a picture. Such a fun way to practice writing!

Thank you for making these fun learning activities possible!”

  • Kindergarten Centers

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Because of your generous donations, my students are having the best time while learning. Center time is their favorite time of the day because of the centers you helped to purchase. Two of the centers purchased help them to blend and read CVC words. Another is helping them to balance equations using a scale and weighted numbers. All of this is done while collaborating with peers and having fun!

I am including some photos of the students enjoying center time using the new centers. We really appreciate your donations!”

  • Multicultural, Inclusive Classroom Library

    Funded Aug 30, 2021

Now that we have had our new books for a few weeks, I can say that the students are LOVING them. I have been reading them aloud and we have been having amazing class discussions about what we can learn by reading books. It is important to see representations of ourselves in books, and it is important to learn about others when reading new stories.

I keep the new books in the class library, and students always choose to read them when they get a chance to.

We appreciate the donors that made it possible to have these books in our classroom.”

  • Laptop for Distance Learning

    Funded May 6, 2020

Using this laptop has made a big impact on my teaching and professional growth during distance learning. The first way it has helped is with lesson planning. I can use the computer to update google classroom with new assignments. I can post new content on flipgrid and check on how my students are doing with reading on raz kids. I can also view assignments that have been turned in and give feedback.

The second way this laptop has impacted my teaching is with professional development. I can take online professional development classes using zoom to learn new skills to help improve my distance learning knowledge. I have taken part in several growth opportunities already and plan to continue.

The third way this computer has impacted my teaching is by allowing me to create new things to be used with students. I have created note cards and written personal letters to communicate with students, and created signs to hand out to students using programs on the computer. We are missing our kindergarten promotion this year, but I'm still able to make it special for them using technology. I'm also creating a slideshow to send to them.

I appreciate your generous donations that have made this possible.”

  • Help My Kinders Wiggle and Work!

    Funded Jul 19, 2019

In our kindergarten classroom, we are learning exactly how we learn the best. We have many types of seating in our classroom. Some examples include wobble chairs, standard chairs, stools, yoga balls, floor cushions with lap desks, and the runtz ball chairs that your donations helped to purchase. The students start the year by choosing a different seat each day. Their objective is to figure out which type of seating helps them learn and focus the best. The runtz ball chairs are truly amazing because unlike the yoga balls, they don't roll away. The kids are free to bounce and move, but don't have to worry that they might fall off.

Five year old students NEED to move. These chairs allow them to do that, but still be in control of their learning. We have had them for a few months now, and we are very happy with their quality. There usually isn't a runtz ball chair left empty. The kids really love them. Thank you for your donations!”

  • Mirrors and Windows: Books to Teach Empathy and Acceptance

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

Allowing students to see themselves or people from similar backgrounds in the stories we read is very powerful. Your donations allow my class to do just that. They can identify with the characters and learn powerful lessons about kindness, empathy, and perseverance.

In our class we read stories together and then have meaningful discussions about the characters, the message, the lesson, and why the author chose to tell the story. These particular books are perfect for these discussions.

The books have had long lasting effects on the students. They have made appearances in their journal writing and class discussions long after we read them. These books have characters from many different cultures, and it is so powerful for the students to see bits of themselves in the stories.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Navarro

Students of today are active and eager learners and this describes my kindergartners perfectly. Flexible seating options allow them to work but still get those wiggles out in a productive manner! Allowing students acceptable movement while they work maintains the focus on learning and helps to minimize behavioral concerns. Students come to the classroom with many different needs. Movement has been proven to help reduce distractability for ADHD students, calm students with emotional needs and reduce worries for those students who may be unsure of their abilities. Having the option to wiggle out their worries allows them to feel comfortable taking risks and that's when the learning happens! Please help me bring 6 Runtz Ball Chairs to our classroom to provide movement for my students while they work so they we can do what we do best... LEARN!
