As a first year teacher, I want to make sure that I provide my students with the necessary materials needed so that they feel comfortable, safe and welcome in the classroom. During my student teaching experience, I noticed the importance of creating a warm classroom community and the overall positive effect it has on student growth, happiness and success. Diverse literature about acceptance, kindness, and diversity will help foster a positive climate within the classroom. I choose these texts based off the literature that my students enjoyed and loved during classroom read alouds. These texts resonated with my students, during my student teaching experience, and therefore I want to bring them into my own classroom. With your support, I can create the positive classroom community I've always envisioned.
