Kindergarten is a foundation year. Learning letters, sounds, sight words and print concepts is the beginning process for learning to read. Without the skills, reading can possibly be delayed. These materials are an essential part of our guided reading lessons. The stand up magnetic board is important so students in small group can see me modeling how to write and make letters and words. The small letters and boards will facilitate students practicing writing and making sight words. The tubs are necessary to organize materials, and will save valuable time to get the lesson started and to keep the lesson on task.
