In first grade, students spend a lot of time on the carpet. This builds community during new learning. Having a space for each student provides a structure for effective classroom management, which is a big part of successful learning in first grade. Students will get to sit on this carpet during morning meetings, math lessons, read alouds, and many other activities throughout the day. A new carpet will be something students are proud to sit on and will teach them to respect their space on the carpet! While sitting on the carpet, students will feel like they belong in the classroom. This feeling will continue throughout the year and set the stage for their experience in elementary school.

About my class
