My 10th grade Language Arts class is transitioning to an American Literature curriculum this year. I am trying to promote more diverse American Lit in the works I'm choosing. The House on Mango Street is one of my favorite novels and I would love to share it with my students. The vignettes will be a great way to keep even the most reluctant readers engaged and most students will be able to identify with something in the book. Each student will be able to have a physical book to read in class each day. This isn't usually the case in my classroom.
