Thank you so much for donating the white boards and colorful markers to my 6th grade classroom. I cannot tell you the surprise and excitement I felt when I received notification that the donation had been made. I use white boards weekly and the ones I had were in desperate form. The students were just as excited as I was to receive them.

I use the white boards for a variety of reasons. For example, we are reading the novel The Phantom Tollbooth. Have you ever read it? It's hilarious and the students love it but it is a difficult book because of the types of figurative language and puns it contains that many students have never been exposed to. Using the white boards enables me to review vocabulary, have students complete constructed responses, and review skills such as point of view and text structure. Students do so much writing without realizing it because it is done on the white board.
