  • First Grade Virtual Tools

    Funded Aug 5, 2020

Students that received these were able to complete all their work at a distance! Thank you so much for allowing them that chance. The barriers that COVID gave at a school like mine made it very difficult for students to be able to virtually learn. Having access to these tools afforded them the ability to do it. They were able to participate fully in their learning and they managed to stay on task. The majority of my students come from a low socio economic background and so these tools gave them the chance to keep their learning intact.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plaha

  • Tools For School

    Funded Dec 30, 2019

Thank you so much for these materials!! My students will be super engaged with their whiteboards during our whole group lessons. The easel for my small group instruction will also make all the difference with both my instruction and my student’s learning! Thank you so much for all of these.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plaha

  • Cool Stools in First

    Funded Jun 19, 2019

With our new wobble stools my kids finally have the ability to move around as much as they want during small group and around the classroom! The constant movement allows them to stay engaged during learning time. A lot of my kids like the fact that they move because they are able to get the wiggles out as they are learning. Some of my kids would say: "Wow these are so cool!", " I like that they can spin", "these are so comfy". The last three weeks of instruction has been great to see the types of learners I have this year and knowing that some of their learning is further enhanced by movement. Thank you so much for funding this flexible seating project of mine!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Plaha

I teach at the lowest income school in Spokane, Washington. It ranks as one of the lowest income schools in the state and has many students with severe behavior and learning challenges. Due to a loss of funding, next year our classrooms will have more students in them. A typical classroom at my school has multiple busy students who need extra attention. Because of this change in funding, this number will only increase. The purpose of this project is to allow more opportunities for students to work around the room and get in movement while they work. The lap desks will allow them to be able to work around the room instead of just at their desks, and the wiggle stools and yoga ball will provide movement opportunities for kids while they are learning.
