A Journey for Our Hearts
Funded May 21, 2024Thank you so much for helping us receive a class set of the novel "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane." My students are so happy to know they will each have their own copy to use and are looking forward to reading the book.
I love to teach reading through literature circles and novel studies. This creates a more dynamic and motivating way for students to engage with the text as well as creating many opportunities for students to participate in meaningful discourse.
We will use this novel to learn about story elements such as characters, setting, plot, theme, and symbolism. This novel is a wonderful way for students to learn about character traits and how characters can change over time.
I gave my students an opportunity to read the summary and browse the novel. Simply by looking at the various illustrations in the book and scanning the text, students were able to make predictions, share ideas, ask questions, and reference chapters and page numbers. Some students stated that they had been wanting to read this book and others were excited to read another book by the author Kate DiCamillo.
My students and I thank you for helping us get this book in our hands and are excited about all the learning and discussion yet to come.”

Funded Sep 21, 2020Thank you so much for making it possible for my students to receive bluetooth headphones. They have helped to improve and enhance our virtual learning experience.
The most significant way the headphones have positively impacted my students that they are most excited about, is that the headphones help them be more focused and present in class.
The headphones help to reduce distractions. Some students have a lot of distracters in their home environment such as other siblings who are also learning remotely or other things going on in thier household. Now, those students can just put thier heaphones on and be more focused.
Furthermore, students are very happy that the headphones help them to hear their classmates more clearly. Some students speak in a very low voice. The build in microphone in the headphones allow those students to speak up and be heard.
Most importantly, because the headphones help students to be more focused and hear thier teacher and classmates, students are more engaged. Student engagement is extremely important, especially with remote learning. I can see that student engagement has improved in my classroom since recieving the headphones.”
