I am so very grateful for your generous donation to my project. My students have been waiting and understand that soon they will have the materials to listen and enjoy.
The stories will give them an opportunity to listen again and again. Fairy tales are excellent for determining the conflict of a story. The chants will strengthen the phonemic awareness strand and support the reading.”

This classroom project was brought to life by American Express Members Project and one other donor.

My students are first grade English Language learners in a New York City public school. The parents are recent immigrants and are hard working people. However, they speak Spanish only and their children are very motivated to learn the second language. My students have acquired a love for reading and actually ask to listen to our read alouds over and over again. I must say every teacher's dream. You will often find them with a book in their hands reading the pictures and sharing the stories with their classmates.
