  • Keyboards for Our Computer Lab!

    Funded Oct 24, 2024

Thank you so much for providing these full sized keyboards for our technology lab. As my middle schoolers try to practice and perfect their typing skills having larger keyboards that fit their hands make all the difference in the world. This has made it easier for my older students to quickly find the home row and reset their hands without looking down at the keyboard. That in turn increases their speed. Although, your gift is currently helping over 200 students with this year's 11 classes, as a part of our lab upgrade these keyboards will help scholars become expert typists for years to come.”

  • Scholars Play Together So Everyone Wins!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

My scholars were absolutely thrilled to open up our new games to kick off our game design unit. They were very interested in opening up and getting started learning how to play the new style games. As they conducted their research into game mechanics the difference in game play style and options were a stark contrast to what they were used to. It was truly an amazing experience as they learned to work together in collaborative team games. They were able to compare and contrast the discourse in the different style games.

These games can now be used a resource for this unit in future years. Another wonderful aspect is that many scholars have requested to have a board game club so that we can have additional time playing together even after our STEM unit is complete. Thank you for an unforgettable experience that you have provided for hundreds of current scholars and many more to come in future years.”

  • Reading Adventures Loading...

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to supply these important materials for my students. They are learning to develop a love of reading. They are excited to experience new stories and learn new information from the non-fiction options.

During our reading period the students who were previously unable to book shop in our classroom library now have over 120 options. The sets of fiction and non-fiction sight word readers allow them to select a book by interest instead of having only a few choices. They enjoy borrowing the books to bring home and read to their parents. I am even getting notes and calls from parents overjoyed that their child is finally excited about reading.

The Road to Reading Activity Center and the Sight Word Cards have given a literacy independence that was not possible before. During small groups the students are now able to use one of the sets and sit with a partner to work on their sights words/ spelling and reading skills while I conference with other students.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude about the educational change you have made possible for my scholars. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!”

  • Computer Science Meets Math!

    Funded May 14, 2019

Thank you so much for providing the additional kits to expand our computer science curriculum. The immense joy and excitement that flowed through the room and we unveiled the launch kits and the xylophone extender is indescribable. The students loved discussing speed versus distance as they made adjustments to their code to have Dash launch the ball at different targets. One particular student that had trouble focusing was always ready and on task to code for Dash.

The addition of the sketch kit to math class made geometry lessons come alive. As we discussed parallel lines and perpendicular lines and 2-dimensional shapes, students were able to code for them and watch Dash draw.

The Hot Dots kits are a favorite in class fro reviewing math concepts and practicing word problems. The students love the center and the opportunity to self-check their answers. As we enter a new school year, I look forward to having a new group of students to learn coding and geometry. Your gift has given an amazing opportunity to a wonderful population of students who otherwise may not have had this learning experience.”

  • Supplies for my Special Stars!

    Funded Nov 1, 2010

Thank you for your wonderful generosity in donating supplies to my class. We have received the pencils, dry-erase markers, rulers, notebooks and of course... the crayons. I could never have imagined what a wonderful impact it would have on their lives. Listening to them tell me how they had never had more than a 24 pack of crayons and asking me for pencils to take home simply to be able to complete their homework nearly brought me to tears. Your donation has truly made a difference in their lives.

I hope the pictures depict the elation that they felt a they each received their supplies. Many of my eight and nine-year old students had never seen, nor used, a silver or gold crayon. They had no idea there were colors such as "macaroni and cheese" and "purple mountains majesty." They gushed for hours over the beautiful colors they could now use to color the pictures they draw to go with their stories. Math class has truly taken a turn for the best as they use their own dry-erase markers to write their answers and hold them up. Being able to draw the pictures as we work out the math problem and easily erase and re-do it has increased their confidence to try word problems.

Your donation has been the great equalizer in a classroom where it was painfully obvious whose parents had money for supplies and who didn't. They are no longer bashful about needing a pencil for homework. Everyone has notebooks to use for all their subjects and so no one is left using loose leaf paper. I thank you whole-heartedly for your kind-hearted donation and for the joy you have brought to my students with your gracious giving.”

I have 300 students in the middle school portion in public school both general and special education who work very hard to overcome their learning disabilities, and emotional disabilities on a daily basis to try to learn. Due to the pandemic many of them missed out on the computer science learning they would have experienced at am elementary school level. I am trying to bridge the gap and even the playing field for then to be able to compete in today's high tech world. They deserve the opportunity to excel at computer science and learn technology and coding with real hands on supplies. They understand coding in theory, but without the physical computing portion, all they have is theory.
