My students have a range of disabilities and vary on the autism spectrum. They are excited about learning something new and having hands-on activities which allow us to explore many different concepts that that are difficult yet intriguing among special needs students. This allows them to feel a part of the entire school STEAM environment. We will use these within a small group setting where students can be guided into a complete understand of the task on hand. Without these activities, we are limited to a basic, very simple set of supplies that ultimately limit their understanding to a bare minimum.
