Gifted Minds Need Movement
Funded May 8, 2024Your donations towards the exercise balls were a huge hit! Students love the seating option that allows them to move and fidget as they are trying to think or read. It helps their minds flow.
For some of my students, attention can be a struggle. The ability to subtly move while working is particularly helpful for these students. Thank you!
In addition, new seating options just caused so much excitement and eager-to-learn students, simply because of having somewhere brand new and different to sit!
Thank you for your much appreciated donation!”

Funded Sep 20, 2023My students and I would like to thank you for your generous donation! Students across grade levels have started using the Mini-Spheros and they love them! There is so much that can be done with these. So far, the students have started learning how to use Block Coding. For the mini-Spheros this requires them to consider the angle, speed, and time/distance that the Spheros will travel. Second grade students completed a task in which they had to successfully code the Sphero to travel partially around a backpack. Third grade students coded the Sphero to travel all the way around a box. Fourth grade students are diving a little deeper and connecting Geometry and angles with the Block Coding.
After students gain even more understanding of how to use and code the Spheros, they will be using them for other types of projects. This will give students a chance for their creativity to really come through along-side of this exciting technology.”

Funded Oct 22, 2022This Chromebook has helped my students learn in an equitable way. Not all of my students have their own Chromebooks or laptops. Having this Chromebook allows my students who do not have one the opportunity to complete technology-based tasks. This includes a wide variety of educational tasks. Students use the Chromebooks for research purposes, for coding, and for 3D designing. Students use the Chromebooks for reading and writing and for math, along with Content areas, engineering, and technology.
I travel to multiple schools. At one of my schools, I had a group of 2 students. One student had a Chromebook, the other did not. Unfortunately, many times the school Chromebooks were all being used at the time I took the group. Having this Chromebook gave both students access to their own Chromebook. The students were able to work through an Hour of Code course with code.org. They started an inventor research project. They will soon be working on a measurement/geometry 3D design project as well.
Thank you for helping to provide my students with access to technology to enhance their learning experiences.”

Funded Oct 24, 2021The excitement from my second grade students upon seeing the Allowance Game, Power Pen, cash register, and money was surprising even to me! They could not wait to play the Allowance Game, and did not want to stop! Not only is the game fun, but it is also educational. It provides the students with practice counting money (adding and subtracting), but does so within real-world situations throughout the game. The money cards and Power Pens are such an awesome way for my students to get practice with immediate and exciting feedback from the light up pen. There are so many uses for the cash register. From using it with the game, to using it for real-life scenarios in my classroom. Such as budgeting and mock grocery shopping. It can be used for my second and third grade students, but for younger and older students as well.”

Funded Aug 2, 2019To say my students were excited when our items arrived would be an understatement!
The fidget chair bands arrived before the first day of school. I waited to put them on chairs in order to allow the students to be a part of it. They were so thankful and delighted to have something to help them focus. Even though we are less than 2 weeks into school they have already said how much they like the chair bands and that they feel they will also help with stress.
The carpet arrived in our room while we were at lunch and the students were thrilled and excited to help me lay it out. They immediately were ready to take a seat and try it! It is a huge hit and students are thankful to not be sitting on the floor when I call them to the front of the room. They also enjoy it during times that they are able to work around the classroom.”
