Fabulous Frogs
Funded Dec 3, 2024We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to integrate frog dissection into our science curriculum. This hands-on experience has been invaluable in our exploration of body systems, allowing students to draw fascinating parallels between frog and human anatomy.
The moment our class first encountered the frogs, the room buzzed with a mix of awe and anticipation. Students were visibly struck by the frogs' size, which immediately piqued their interest. As we delved into the dissection, even our most apprehensive students found themselves captivated by the intricate structures revealed beneath their careful incisions. The level of focus and engagement was truly remarkable, with curiosity overcoming initial nervousness for many.
Building on this enlightening experience, our next step is to synthesize our observations into a comprehensive understanding of how body systems interact. We'll explore the intricate interplay between these systems and their crucial roles in maintaining overall bodily functions. This holistic approach will deepen our students' appreciation for the complexity of life and the delicate balance that sustains it.
Your support has ignited a spark of scientific inquiry in our classroom, fostering a deeper understanding of biology that will resonate far beyond this single lesson. Thank you for helping us bring science to life for our students!”

Funded Jun 28, 2024We are incredibly grateful for your generous support of our project, which has provided our students with exciting new science resources. Since receiving the materials, our classroom has transformed into a vibrant learning environment where students engage in hands-on experiments and collaborative projects. This experience ignited a passion for scientific inquiry.
When the students first unboxed the materials, their reactions were priceless. The enthusiasm was contagious, and it fostered an excitement for upcoming projects. This initial excitement has led to increased participation and a willingness to tackle challenging scientific concepts with confidence.
As we look ahead, our students will be conducting experiments using the materials you helped fund, allowing them to analyze data and present their findings to the class. This not only enhances their scientific skills but also encourages them to think critically. We are committed to nurturing this enthusiasm and ensuring that your contributions continue to make a lasting impact on our students' education. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey!
Warm regards,”

Funded May 8, 2024Myself and the students of Shady Spring Middle would like to thank you for your generous donation. Your donation allowed us a subscription to the Science World magazine, which provides the students with current information about scientific discoveries and news from around the world.
This subscription is not only used in the 7th grade but in all science grade levels here at Shady Spring Middle. There are around 600 students within our school. Science World magazines have wonderful videos that go along with the readings as well as differential learning for students that may struggle. There are exceptional activities that go along with the subjects from the articles and the magazine also extends into reading comprehension and geography.
Overall this magazine is a wonderful asset to the Shady Spring Middle Schools students and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to have them due to your generous donation.”

Funded Feb 2, 2024Thank you so very much for the opportunity to give my students at SSMS this amazing hands on experience.
We studied the human anatomy and all of the body systems that work together in order to make a healthy human. The students were very engaged and excited for the units entirety. My students spent two days dissecting and comparing the frog anatomy to their own anatomy. When I first told them we were going to be able to dissect frogs the room erupted. They were so excited.
This lab experience usually is the first time these students will experience this opportunity and they were pumped!
Thank you once again,
Mrs. Shepherd and the 7th grade students at SSMS!”

Funded Dec 9, 2022The 7th grade students at Shady Middle School would like to thank you for the generous donation to our classroom. We are so excited to experience the world of frog dissection! The students are anxious and excited all in one! These resources will allow the students to really experience science first hand! This activity allows students to compare the anatomy of a frog with the anatomy of a human as well as learn to handle science specimens respectfully. This activity requires the students to use precision and patience and they are truly excited! Without you this experience would never have been made available! Thank you so much!!!”

Creativity and Curriculum!
Funded Oct 17, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations. With the materials I purchased through Teachers Pay Teachers my students have access to current and up to date curriculum. The project we are currently working on has to do with a Natural Disaster Newspaper Article. The students must research and then present their newspaper as if they are the reporters. The students love to work on hands on activities and through your donations they now have the access to projects that allow them to do that. Once again thank you so much for Mrs. Shepherd and her 7th grade students!”

Talk Science to Me
Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations. The Science World Magazines that we ordered come monthly and allow our students, to engage in a series of cross curricular activities. The students enjoy current scientific events by independent reading as well as collaborative reading and discussion. The Science World magazines also have a text to speech feature that allows students that struggle to enjoy the articles as well. The subscription comes with cross curriculum that allows us to work on Math, Geography, and reading comprehension as well as writing. The videos are also available and absolutely wonderful, not to mention that the digital version of the subscription allows us to reach all students both face to face and virtual!”

Funded Jan 17, 2021I would like to thank you on behalf of my 7th-grade science students! We had the pleasure of using the microscopes during a cell lab. the students enjoyed looking at all of the prepared slides and examining the stages of mitosis and meiosis through the lens of a microscope! With the five additional microscopes, every student had their own microscope to use and really had the opportunity to appreciate the science involved with the lab. Some of my students had never had the opportunity to look through a microscope lens and were absolutely amazed by what they could see. To actually look at the eye of a fly and see all of the many features you can't see with the naked eye. They truly enjoyed switching slides and viewing all the different slides. My hope for the progression of this project is to have students create a 3-D model of the cells and explain the individual functions of the cell organelles with real-world items.”
