Funded Oct 10, 2020My students and I had a blast exploring the internal and external anatomy of a frog with our Frogs! We worked individually to perform an entire autopsy of a Frog for our Forensics class. First, students had to draw, measure and describe the dorsal, ventral and lateral sides of their frog. Each student was allowed to name their frog. Then students watched as I demonstrated how to complete an internal autopsy on the frog, via the document camera projected on the board in front of the room. Students were then given time to open their frog, measure, draw and document all of the organs and organ systems.
Lastly, students took pictures of their frog and their organs in order to support their opinion of cause of death (COD) for their frog! Students wrote up and presented a Pathologists' report on how their frog died supported by biological evidence/ abnormalities they observed during the dissection. My students were so focused and engaged in this activity! I have never seen some of these scholars as focused as they were on this project.
As a class we thank you so much for helping us have the opportunity for this unique and truly enriching hands on experience. Some of my seniors told me it was, "the best thing they have done in high school," and others told me "I couldn't wait to come to school to do this." Your generosity and altruism is so greatly felt and appreciated by myself and all my students at Lincoln High School.”
With gratitude,
