Sometimes a child with asthma will have an attack that is not made better by using their rescue inhaler. In this case they may need a breathing treatment via a nebulizer machine. Our school nurses worked with our district pediatrician and are now able to give these treatments while waiting for EMS to arrive! Nebulizers can be more effective than a regular inhaler in relaxing a child's airway, buying them valuable time until they can be cared for at a hospital. In preparing for emergency situations, which could mean anything from a playground accident to a severe allergic reaction, many supplies may be needed. When they are organized and easily accessible, treatment is faster. The bag I am asking for will be carried to every emergency and in the event of a school evacuation, ensuring that proper supplies and equipment are available for immediate use.
