Because John Rex Middle School is in its first year, the teachers are also doing elective classes for the kids. I am taking on the task of doing a few art elective sessions, as well as some strategy board game elective sessions. Because our students are almost doubling next year from 70 to about 120, I will need help getting art supplies and some extra sets of board games. For the art elective, the kids will be learning how to work with different art mediums, different ways to do self portraits, and then doing some abstract and illusion art. We have little to no art supplies currently and are in much need of stuff for the next school year. There is also a drying rack on my list, because our space is very limited and those racks would help immensely for the kids to be able to store their art. The board games that are on the list are some of my favorites that I have gotten to teach the 6th grade students this year, as well as a few new ones. These strategy games help the kids to use their problems solving skills as they develop and use different strategies to have fun and win some games.
