Turtle Calming Corner!
Funded Aug 10, 2024The "Turtle Calming Corner" is used every day in my classroom! When students become upset about something or need a space to calm down, they will quickly go into the turtle tent and use the calming tools to calm themselves down. They love hugging the weighted turtle, using the turtle pop-it's, and they especially love the light up turtle that puts stars on the wall of the tent.
All of the items that you helped to provide for my classroom has helped every one of my students! I even have one student with autism that loves spending time in the turtle tent when they need some alone time! It is helpful even when students are tired and need a quiet place to rest.
Thank you again for your generosity! You have helped my students immensely!”

Learning and Games and Fun- Oh My!
Funded Aug 17, 2023My first grade students were thrilled when they saw all of the fun learning games that you generously donated to our classroom! They wanted to use everything all at once!
The acorn game is a hands-on game to work on learning letters and sounds. They are listening to rhyming words with the rhyming train game. The students are learning to spell CVC words with the letters that they can click together. They especially love the flip and add game to help work on addition.
All of the games and activities that you helped purchase have helped my students to have fun and all-the-while keep learning! We will continue to use them all throughout the year!”

Funded Sep 20, 2022My students have been having so much fun learning and using the hands-on materials that you purchased for our classroom! They get so excited when they are able to use manipulatives to help them learn!
My students love using the play dough with math and letter centers! We made white "marshmallows" to help us count on cups of cocoa! We are using the tens frames to help learn counting and number concepts! We are using them every day!
They also enjoy matching the letters to spell words! We will start to use some of the sight word games as we get near the end of the year.
Thank you so very much for your support for my classroom and my students with special needs.”

Funded Oct 1, 2020Thank you very much for your donation to our project for headphones to help on-line
learning for my students! This has really helped to improve their attention and focus during virtual instruction!
By wearing these headphones, the students are able to focus even when there was background noises and commotion going on in their homes. When they wear the headphones they are able to put their attention on their teacher and the learning activities, rather than things that can distract them at home.
These headphones fit my students very well and they were built to last! The headphones were able to hold up to active students that can sometimes be rough with materials. Their long-lasting ability was extremely helpful in reducing external noises for my students so that they can focus and learn!
We are so grateful for these headphones during remote instruction.”

Funded Nov 7, 2019My students were so excited to receive their Calming Kits! I know they felt special when I explained to them that people from all over donated money so that they could have these wonderful Calming Kits. They had so much fun picking out items that "spoke" to them and that they wanted for their own special box.
We went over the rules on how to use the boxes safely, respectfully and how to be responsible with their boxes They have been really doing a fantastic job taking care of them! My students are asking to take a break with their Calming Kits to help them when they need a break from instruction or when they are feeling overwhelmed. These boxes are really helping my students make good and safe choices in school! They use them every day!
We also received headphones which the students love to use when using their I Pads. It allows them to use instructional games without disrupting other students. They have been very respectful of the headphones and use them every day as well.
We have submitted a new project for a big rug to help us feel more comfortable when we learn in the classroom for circle time!”

Funded May 8, 2019My students are over the moon with the wonderful bean bag chairs for our Cozy Corner! They love sitting in the bean bag chairs and are very motivated to demonstrate appropriate behavior in order to use them! We have spent time going over the rules on how to sit in them and how to use them safely. My students love reading books while sitting in them and using school approved leaning sites on their IPads!
The Cozy Corner is a place where my students can go to take a break when they are feeling overwhelmed or upset. I have seen my students lay under all of the bean bags as they love the way they feel and it helps them to calm down. When my students sit in the bean bag chairs, it is like they are getting a big hug! It cradles their bodies and gives them lots of sensory input to keep them calm and focused. They look forward each day to having an opportunity to sit in the chairs.
Thank you so very much for your help to get these great chairs for our classroom! They will help many students in years to come!”
