Hooray For Hands-On Math!

I would like to start off by reiterating my gratitude to you for your generous contribution to our classroom.

I wish you could have seen the reaction the students had when they first saw the materials! They were extremely excited, curious and could not wait to get to use the new resources you donated. I explained to them how your generous donations had made it possible for us to have these math tools to help with our understanding of mathematical concepts. After they asked me about how and why you chose to donate and if you could also donate iPads to us (lol), they all expressed their excitement and gratitude. One of my students even asked if I could FaceTime you so they can say thank you.

The materials you donated have gotten a lot of use already in the short time we have had them. As a resource teacher, I support many students across various grade levels, therefore, I have not used the resources for one specific classroom project. Instead I have been using them with all the students as added tools to support the depth of their understanding of mathematical concepts. I would add that my 3rd grade students have especially benefited from the math tools. The tools have been extremely useful in helping them better understand the concept of fractions.

Next steps for my students is to continue to use the math tools in their everyday learning to help support their understanding. Most of my students learn best when they have opportunities to have visual models and manipulate these models and I am excited to see how much these math tools are able to support them.”
