  • See It! Believe It! Achieve It!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in this contribution for my classroom. At the beginning of the year, I had an insane amount of students missing class becuase they had splitting headaches or eye issues.

These blue light glasses have helped tremendously with my attendance and the participation in the classroom both in person and online. The students were beyond grateful not only because the glasses helped alleviate the headaches, but because they felt stylish in glasses!

    Thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moreno

  • Learning at Your Fingertips

    Funded Apr 28, 2020

My students are over the moon with these Ipads. With the transition to remote learning and a blended model in the classroom, technology was an even bigger commodity than usual. The Ipads allow my students to walk and take pictures of or measure things for their daily assignments. The Ipads have also been used to go outside and read under a tree.

The fact that they are holding a thinner version of a computer in their hands to do their work is exciting enough. They have more freedom at their fingertips to be able to do their work in a way that is most convenient and that allows them to easily understand.

I have some students who prefer the Ipad over the laptop because it is something they are familiar with. To them these Ipads are more user friendly and accessible to get their work done.

Recently we have been using the technology to research about elections and parties, what with this election looming over us. The students have been really excited and have more of a drive and a want to do the work because they are using the Ipads. I have even heard in conversation that some of the students feel like they are in college! These Ipads are definitely being used to the best of their uses and I cannot say thank you enough for such an amazing gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moreno

Living in an urban city such as Austin, TX has many advantages, but a major disadvantage is distances. You see, these distances also create isolation within our students, and if this was not enough, my students are part of a Title I school. As such, most of them will never get the opportunity to experience such a hands-on and integrative adventure. Camp Champions, The Outdoor School, provides them with team building and other activities that will gives them a chance to not only experience something new, but it will allows them to explore their strengths and build or strengthen their relationships with their peers. This in turn builds on their self-esteem and confidence, to be better socially and academically.
