Math is Magic!
Funded Aug 1, 2023Thank you very much for donating to my project! Your contribution made an impact in my classroom this year already! From the headphones to the manipulatives, we use these donated items every day, especially during math lessons.
These items help make learning more tangible. My students have enjoyed using the manipulatives as they explore math concepts. These tools help students to visualize the concepts and work throught the math. The headphones allow for individualized learning so students can work at their current math level. The white board markers allow for quick formative assessments as student quickly respond on their response boards. This helps me adjust the math lessons to meet my learner's needs.
Its donor's like you that help teachers support the learning needs of all of our students. Education should be fun! Teachers need access to materials to help make learning magic!”

Wiggles and Giggles
Funded Dec 4, 2019The items purchased through your generous donations gave us space and tools to help us get our wiggles out and have some fun in the classroom. We use the bathmats as mini personal rugs. These rugs give us a place to lounge during silent reading time, a soft space to play a game with a partner, or give us a quite space to work alone. The fidget toys were used both at times of need and times for fun. Sometimes work gets really hard and students may feel anxious. The fidget toys help by giving a student somewhere to place that negative energy. The sensory toys help to channel energy. We used these as brain break activities and sometimes as a reward activity. A few times an individual student was allowed to visit the sensory bin because they needed to for emotional support. We also got great use out of the wobble cushions. These provide a slightly unstable seat to students who needed to get rid of some extra energy in order to concentrate. One was used by a particularly active student who popped his. It was an opportunity to discuss how to properly use our tools in the classroom.
When we received the packages my students and I were so excited. We took a survey to decide how to open them. Our two choices were open them all at once like a birthday party or open one per day to make the excitement last. The survey results in and we started tearing into the boxes like it was out birthday! Some of the objects were obvious, but many of the objects needed explaining and demonstrating. When I explained their purpose and how students would use the objects as needed, but sometimes a reward, the kids were looking forward to using them. I explained that these tools were similar to glasses: not everyone will need to use them, even if they are cool looking. The students understood, but I was careful to make sure everyone got a chance to use them.
Now that we have some tools to help us focus our energy to be ready to learn, we would love to create more learning games, STEAM activities, and get tools, soil and seeds to create a school garden. If you'd like to help, please look for our projects to be posted soon! Thank you for your generosity and good thoughts for our classroom.”
