Sensory hallways are becoming evidence based practices in social emotional learning. Students' special needs are not always being met in the traditional class setting. There are many students in our building that use movement breaks inappropriately, yet still need sensory input. Teaching students strategies that work for them is the reason we are here. Teaching students self regulation strategies can positively effect the rest of their lives. Despite the struggles around them, our sensory hallway can be a tool to help students cope. There will be many modalities to meet our students sensory needs; while reinforcing a calm state of being.
