New Tech Needed!
Funded Apr 7, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity!! Your donation has given my students seamless access to the digital iSPIRE curriculum. Students can now access and complete all pages of the lessons digitally. Meanwhile the teacher logged-in on a computer can see student responses in real time. This resources allow me to progress monitor and make corrections and adjustments with-in the lesson. It allows us to get through and complete lessons quickly because they are more engaging. Next year I know our data will show students making gains much earlier as they will start out the year using the resources. I could not have done this without your donation.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021My students and I are enjoying the Cricut materials so much. When students receive the products made with the resources they are so happy. They like to make name labels and stickers for their devices. We have done many tasks here and there. We have created jersey like t-shirts for our jersey day. I did a shirt for a 3K students jersey. We have made name labels/tags for student items such cups, water bottles, cell-phone covers, tablets and covers and masks. I was also able to obtain the school logo and now can print and iron-on the logo to school uniform shirts and masks. We cannot wait to do more projects with the resources. One of our 5th grade teachers came to me with the idea of doing shirts for the senior class. When the students come up with their idea(s) I hope to use the resources bring their ideas to fruition for senior day and/or graduation. We are going to make great use of everything until our vinyl runs out.”

Funded Mar 16, 2021Thank you for your donation to help my students retain information through song. Your donation of Flocabulary Lite allows us to watch and listen to educational videos that help students remember and retain important math and reading skills. The application is not limited to math and reading. Students learn about historical facts, art, culture, language, social studies and current events. I have found that music is a great way for students to remember. They always remember the latest songs and this helps them do it with their studies. The songs are catchy and captures students' attention and memories. Your donation to this project has and will reach many students until the end of the school year.”

Funded Mar 23, 2021Thank you very much for donating funds to our craft it with cricut project. I was very excited when the materials came in and could not wait to get crafting. I knew my first project would be my classroom door or bulletin board showcasing student work. My students became excited once they saw what we were able to do with the machine. Since receiving the cricut machine, cricut tools and vinyl materials we have created beautiful classroom doors, bulletin boards, wreaths for our door and stickers/decals for our technology, such as laptops and i-Pads. We will be uploading some pictures of the things created and we will continue to create more and more.”

Funded Mar 3, 2021Thank you for making remote learning and teaching easier for my students and myself. Receiving an additional larger screen allowed me to present materials to my students on my laptop and see my students/classroom on the other screen. Teachers had to become very resourceful around technology in a short time and this tool made working a little easier.
As you are aware this tool was more useful for the teacher than students as they could not use it directly but the impact of it benefited them. Students could be monitored in group discussions and could present during lessons which allowed all learners to be engaged. I Thank all donors who help to make teaching and learning during the pandemic easier.”

Osmo STEAM
Funded Dec 2, 2020Thank you so much for your timely donations to ensure my students had engaging learning software and technology that mades learning FUN. My students were very excited when we received our materials, the iPad and OSMO Steam Kits. They could not believe that we received an iPad for the classroom. The classroom technology we have are old desktops and laptops so a new iPad was exciting. Especially since some of them were receiving City issued iPads to do remote learning.
What the students appreciated most about the products were that they were not any app restrictions. We were able to control what apps we could install on the device that were beneficial for us. This made it possible for us to download the OSMO Steam apps and use the hands on steam tools. I enjoyed that once the app was downloaded the students were easily able to navigate and engage in the activities with minimal assistance. They all received their own accounts and we were able to track and monitor progress in specific skills.
I noticed my younger learners in Kindergarten and my struggling older learners who were reading on a K-1 level, really enjoyed this technology. They used letter tiles to identify sounds and build words as they progressed in the levels.”

Funded Jul 14, 2020My students love the resources I received from teachers' pay teachers through your donations. I am able to teach lessons and provide engaging follow up activities with the digital resources I purchase from the site. It's not only easy for the students but myself as well. I can edit some of the templates I have purchased to create my own lesson plans, slides, forms and even games. In the pictures I have posted. I have purchased a background to match my rustic classroom theme. So that my virtual class and in-person class look the same. I have also noticed my students have grown so much with the use of technology. They have learned to navigate many platforms and curriculum applications. They know how to present and share their screens. My students can do so much and have become master computer technicians.
I let the students know that some of the materials I use were from donations by people who care about helping students who are learning virtually and have to return to school. The students love the contributions because they are bright and engaging. I also purchased academic games so they can learn while having fun. Some of the games they enjoy are ELA jeopardy and Phonics Bingo. I am so grateful for the donations and I am able to share ideas with my colleagues, which allows the contributions to stretch to other students in my school building.
Some of my students get support from a paraprofessional while online. One of the Paraprofessionals shared with me that his student loves to come on with me because he has fun while he is learning. That made me feel so special because I try to reach all the students by tapping into their interests. Most of my male student's love reading that is non-fiction and about animals. This student has shared with me that he has never been to the zoo and he is 7 years old. So I told him I will try to find a virtual trip to the zoo. At the moment current projects, I would like to work on is ensuring students have what they need to log on virtually and to tap into their varied interest. I would also like to gain access to interactive programs that will strengthen their reading and math skills. Such as great leaps and SPIRE.”

Funded May 2, 2019We greatly appreciate your donation to our classroom project. With your donation students were able to make a mother's day flower for all their moms. The supplies came right on time. In addition to making a flower for each of their mothers one student took it a step further. She made flower hair clips for some of the women in her church. Her mother came back to school to tell me all about it. I was happy that a student could take the craft and extend beyond the classroom to share with others. The flower arrangements have become a big thing in our school and teachers have also come for lessons. The student who made the flowers for church parishioners also taught our school safety agent how to make some flowers. The teachers I have taught, now make flowers for their bulletin boards and special occasions in their classrooms. In June, we were able to make a flower wall/ backdrop for all the graduating classes to use. It was a big hit. All the parents were eager to take pictures with the floral arrangement. One our teachers went to Suriname over the summer and she taught students in her vacation bible studies class how to make flowers. Your donation has extended way beyond our classroom and I am so proud. We have not gotten a chance to use the painting supplies because of end of year testing in June but it is on the list for this year. Unicorns and superheroes have already been sketched for the students.
Students were ecstatic when the materials came in and were eager to get started. They came up during their lunch time to craft and also wanted to come afterschool. When they saw the sketches of the unicorns and superheroes they became even more excited about hanging them in their bedrooms. We will definitely get to that activity this year. I purchased some transfer carbon paper so they can trace my sketch and then paint. I am excited to see the results but we have to wait until end of October early November before we can paint because students 1st six-week assessment data will be in. In addition, they will have been settled back in to school routines. We have a new student this year who displays behaviors but loves art and she is really excited about learning to make paper flowers. She passed my classroom and saw the paper flowers on the door and as a result she tries hard to behave. So she can engage in flower making and art activities. She has made me a few drawings which I have put up in my classroom.
My next steps for a class project is to possibly purchase a Cricut machine to create different flower templates and get a backdrop stand. I brought my stand to the school for the flower backdrop and with all the movement for the various graduation displays one side was strained. So my photography stand is not standing up properly. I will also brainstorm with the students about other arts and crafts activities they would like to do. Academically I would like to get some tablets and subscriptions to reading and math programs that will help to increase their reading and math skills.”
