The Tustin Adult Transition Program is teaching job skills to adults with different abilities, who participate in our program. The visuals created by these adults will benefit all schools in the Tustin Unified School District.
If any teacher in the Tustin Unified School District (from preschool to the adult transition program) needs visuals such as, Stop Card, Break Cards, Bathroom Cards, Choice Board, Token Systems, First, ____; Then, ____, Visual Schedule, etc, he/she can request what he/she needs through a Google Form. Students will create the visual aids requested, and the visual aids will be sent via mail to the teacher, who requested them. We ask teachers to please take pictures of the visual aids we created, so we can show them to our student. This way we can motivate our students to continue working. This is an important last step because students need to see that their hard work is worth it.
For us to have the ability to provide these students with the opportunity to be exposed to different vocational skills through our Visual Aids Vocational Business, we need many supplies, but more importantly, we need a color printer/copier/scanner, so we can print the visual aids we are creating. At this moment, we only create visual aids in black and white, which are not as efficient for student with different abilities, who really need these visual aids. Most students with different abilities relate to these kinds of material, if they are printed in color and with their favorite TV characters or real color items. If we could get the support to have a color printer/copier/scanner, we will be able to provide the right skills for our students.
