Math Review 2019
Funded Jul 11, 2019Thank you so much for your support. The two Dell Chromebooks my students received are a great addition to my classroom. Technology is a powerful learning tool. Students now are able to log in during class time and engage in Khan Academy and other math programs to help improve remedial skills and challenge them when needed. Differentiating instruction is crucial and these laptops have helped to do just that. These laptops will improve my students' problems solving skills, reasoning, and will help them to communicate mathematically.
My students were so excited to see the new laptops and I hope overtime, to get more projects funded to expand the number of students that can use this crucial learning tool. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home, so being able to provide them with laptops in class, during lunchtime, and after school will allow them to use Khan Academy and other math programs easily. Khan Academy has many pre-requite skills that help my students to review before diving into the lesson of the day. This is very helpful to many of my remedial students to now feel more comfortable to be able to complete the seventh grade curriculum. When students finish their task cards early, they can now grab a laptop and engage in more challenging problems or review a previously taught math topic. The laptops allow students to also learn different methods to solving problems or new topics by watching the Khan Academy videos on the website.
Unfortunately, most of the laptops currently in the building are very outdated and only work occasionally, so these new laptops have made a huge impact for my students. These laptops will not only help them with their math skills but allow students to type up papers for other subjects, do research, and check their assignments on google classroom. Technology is a crucial tool that allows students to learn math topics in a new and exciting way. Thank you again for your support to my students and I hope to continue to be able to provide my students with more technology to both improve their math skills and challenge them to become the leaders of tomorrow.”
With gratitude,
