  • Our School C.A.R.E.S.

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations. With your amazing generosity we were able to expand the CARES pantry exponentially. We are now not only able to help the students in the school but members throughout our community. We now have multiple families coming to our pantry for food, clothing and hygiene products. The benefits to the families has definitely helped our school community grow and strengthen.

Apart from the aid we are giving families and community our students are seeing the greatest impact. Directly they are able to be better students who have access to food when they are hungry, from quick snacks to meals in a pinch. Students have profited from the clothes we now have more room for. We have given out multiple jackets to student who needed them in winter. Students have been able to access uniform clothes and shoes. Indirectly our student volunteers are finding the joy and fulfillment from working in the pantry. One student highlighted how the pantry has helped her feel more at home in the school and with the people.

Our goal is to continue growing. We are working on getting the laundry area together and useable. This would allow our students to have clean clothes, further giving them the ability to take barriers out their way.

Overall, I am so proud of everything we have accomplished for students of Philadelphia and will continue to provide for years to come. None of which would have been possible without you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dunkle

  • Lincoln Locker of Love

    Funded Aug 10, 2019

Thank you so much to all of our amazing donors. This project is absolutely a work of pure love for me. I am trying to get this project off its feet still but with your donation especially around the holidays, we will be able to provide students something to look forward to around the holiday season. This is a great gift that has been presented to our students. Thanks to your generous donations we have slowly started being able to meet the needs of some of our more needy students. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to provide aid to our students and look forward to getting many more years of use out of our locker of love.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dunkle

The goal of my project is to create a small store for my students who are in need of personal and school related products who do not have the means to get them from home. My students often find themselves in situations that are difficult to handle at home. Their parents, guardians, foster families and, some times no families at all, can't afford the basic necessities that our students need. Students come to school day in and day out despite being uncomfortable. Students come to school without soup, deodorant and toothpaste in their bathrooms. Girls come with no hair ties, hair brushes or chapstick. Students walk to school in the rain and the cold without a jacket. Students walk around with books falling out of their broken, taped up, stabled together book bags because no one can afford to get them a new one. Families do the best they can under the circumstances they are given. Many of our families are faced with unemployment, relocation (sometimes from a different country), and a host of other issues that our students' personal hygiene and school supply needs fall to the wayside. I want to create a safe space for students to be able to come, pick up some personal items and take them home to use them. Students will receive coupons from teachers and staff members who see a student in need. This way we can help as many students as possible and they can do it without other students knowing. It will also aid in creating a safe, nurturing learning environment. This project will help jump start the Locker of Love by providing a space to store and lock-up all of the products. Also, to help students have a good start with a backpack and hand sanitizer.
