Globalizing Geography

Greetings from Mrs. Pierce's class at Goodwyn Middle School,
My students and I can not thank you enough for your contributions for bringing tenacity to our Geography classes. We not only enjoy locating countries with our new maps and our new globe, but we are also ecstatic about our wall maps. Our school has started renovations so they will be put up for next year. Many of my students enjoy creating riddles and games to quiz their classmates about various countries. This new found catalyst for learning would not have occurred without your assistance. I look forward to witnessing the perpetual impact that the resources have on my students' learning.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Central Alabama Community Foundation and one other donor.

Undeniably, my students learn better with hands-on activities. With these maps and globe, I will be able to incorporate more collaborative assignments and boost their kinesthetic intelligence. This learning will be in class only, but recorded lessons will include the proposed resources. Sample activities will includes: learning the regions of the US and locating continents while identifying countries. Students will improve their understandings of the contiguous US. The concept of "Globalization" will come to life as the students are able to see and locate the areas on the maps and the globe.
