  • A Library is One of the Necessities of Life

    I cannot thank you all enough again for your support for this fundraiser. My students are all extremely observant of their physical surroundings, especially in routine places. It was a pleasure to see their reactions to this new library structure in their speech room. They were extremely excited- wheels, bright blue colors, and all different bins of books? Fantastic! One student said, "This is the best library ever!", as he slowly scanned each bin for a book he may recognize. As a speech teacher, one of the most common goals I work on is listening (and sometimes reading) comprehension. These leveled books have provided me with a structured way to assess the level of complexity my students are able to comprehend. It is a routine in my speech room that when students complete their work, they have approximately two minutes of free time before heading back to class. I am so proud to say that many of my students request to pick a book from this awesome selection to read quietly to themselves before heading back to class. Thank you so very much for making this possible.”

As students progress and academics become more challenging, I have the pleasure of working with students who struggle to keep up with the demands of the classroom. We work together in a small group environment to build the skills needed to access the classroom curriculum. This library will build a bridge between my speech room and students' classrooms, and it will help to motivate them to continue to work towards becoming stronger and more passionate readers and learners!

About my class
