The Weather Forecast Is...
Funded Nov 9, 2023Thank you so much for donating the AcuRite Weather Station to New Creek Primary! We are very excited to begin using the data it sends us Our students are keen observers and amazing scientists. I continue to be astounded by what they notice, are able to record, the questions they ask and the answers they find. The entire school will use the data daily as part of our morning announcements/daily forecast.
The Kindergarten students are excited to see the data show on the screen which we have placed near our carpet area. This spot is where we begin and end our days. The daily helper will record the temperature at the beginning and end of the day so that we can keep track of the temperature to track the seasons, notice weather patterns and trends.
Right now, they all want a thunder storm to arrive so they can see the storm icon, watch the wind speed increase and observe how much rain falls! It is Wonderful to see their excitement and to know that this weather station may serve as the catalyst for future science, medical or other STEM careers.
Thank you again for your donation. It means so much to me as a teacher and to our students. We are so appreciative of your donation and kind words about WV students.”

Funded Dec 27, 2021I wish to begin my letter of impact with a huge THANK YOU! I can't even begin to tell you what a difference this project made for our library! Our old bean bags are full, fluffy and have a second life.
The "new and improved" bean bags have been in constant use, each day, since we refilled them with the new beans. I have had to make a sign that shows which tables get to use the bean bags on what days so that we don't have any hurt feelings over who gets to sit in them! Students are using them for free time reading and will even come in to do make up work and ask to sit in them while working on their laptop computers.
My first period 8th graders had a blast figuring out the best way to get the filling out of the bags and into the bean bags. Some online research and poster paper did the trick!
I am most happy with the comments I have overheard from students about how nice the bean bags are to sit in, how they help make our library "more fun" and how this project helped to keep older items in use and out of the landfill.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Burner
