From the first day of school these supplies will help create a warm and organized environment for all of my students. The crayons will help my students add life and detail into their pictures. When we write, students are always asked to include as many details as possible into their sentences and on top of that they need a picture that matches the words. Those pictures will only be enhanced through coloring, not to mention the skin tone crayons will give students of any background the ability to see themselves represented in their own drawings.
As new first graders we must also learn responsibility by being able to take care of our things and having just the right place to put them. The pencil boxes and folders will helps keep up organized with our supplies and give students the ability to learn about ownership over their things. They will about keeping their stuff safe and in order and how that will help foster their education. The smaller pouches will help us keep our Eagles Chips in a safe place. We will know exactly where to put our hard earned Eagle Chips and have them ready for when it is time to shop at our weekly Eagle Store. Our folders will help keep our desks tidy and make easier to locate work that we haven't finished.
We can't wait to fill those boxes up with all the tools that will help us be successful in first grade. Everything from pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, and erasers. Having their own supplies teaches them how to be responsible and also gives all students from different backgrounds the chance to start the year off with the same materials as their peers.
