Flexible seating is important in the classroom. Students are able to choose different seating options that help them stay active so they can stay focused on their work. It also provides comfort, encourages kids to share space in the classroom, and helps create a sense of community. Traditional desks and chairs in the classroom are a thing of the past. Students in my classroom love working on the floor, sitting on a yoga ball, or having a band on their chair for their feet. This allows them to move around comfortably and get their wiggles out as they complete their work in class.
