I am slowly trying to increase the number of Orff instruments in my classroom because right now, we only have 8. Some of my classes are large (30 students), and I have groups of 4 students at each instrument. It is so hard to make music that way! If I had about 15 Orff instruments in my classroom, I could have 2 students sitting at each one. This would mean that everyone was engaged in music-making at the same time, instead of idly waiting for their turn. I will use the new Orff instrument to help students have a better experience in learning to play mallet music.
