Help Improve Physical Education for Students with Disabilities!

I wanted to take a moment and thank you again for your generous support to help me be a better teacher for my students. The kids have really enjoyed having a variety of games and activities to perform each week. The supplies that you helped buy are helping improve the students balance, strength, agility and endurance. Of course, the best physical education classes have to be fun so that the students look forward to the workouts.
One of the big hits has been the foam pieces which I have used for balance activities (to help improve the vestibular system). These have been a great tool because they are very versatile. I have used them for throwing targets and bowling pins as well! The vibrant colors are cheerful for the students and they help to keep the kids organized while playing games.
The equipment that you all helped me purchase has made a huge impact in my program and have made my job much easier. More importantly, they have improved the physical education of each of my students!”

I am requesting equipment that can be used in various ways so I can get the most use out of it. One fun example though is, The Obstacle Course —The students begin on a bosu ball where they will need to engage many muscles to keep their balance followed by jumping to the hula hoops to hop or jump in different patterns focusing on their motor planning skills and concentration—following up on a plyometric step which will require strength and balance. All of these skills will help improve self-esteem when they conquer challenges and give students an opportunity to improve their physical fitness. The equipment donated gives my students access to having fun while working on their health. And the fun they have makes it far more likely to become a habit for them to continue long after I'm out of the picture as their instructor.
