Organizing and Reading
Funded Sep 6, 2023Organizing and Reading Project allowed my class to get several items like bins, light filters, leveled reading books, and a file folder holder. These items provided my students with tools to learn and keep tidy.
The children were so excited when they walked into our room the first time with the fluorescent light filters. These help take that harsh glare away while we are working in the classroom. The students enjoyed spying the different designs in the including kites, hot air balloons, rainbows, and planes. It gave the room a nice, cozy feel; and, it sparked a little wonder with my students.
The bins were especially useful to keep our books in neat order, games for easy access, and the brightness just gives a little bit of extra color to our room. The kids were super excited to look through the bins and seeing books that they haven't seen before because of how they were stacked originally.
The file folder is a great tool to hold our chromebooks while getting charged. It keeps each computer in its special place with the charging chords staying untangled. The file folder holder will allow me to organize up to 8 chromebooks at a time! That is a great tool for me as I have 20 students in my room.
The leveled reading books have interesting stories that the children will be able to read with an adult or 5th grade buddy. Students will get to handle books and learn to read from them. It is so important that all children get equal access/opportunities to have books in their hands. Literacy is such an important skill to have to be successful.”

Funded Sep 13, 2020My students are really enjoying their colorful carpet dots and 3D shapes that you helped purchase for my class. Students get to line up counting/identifying their numbers and identifying colors, with the added bonus of social distancing.
Students using desks are able to make sure their desks stay in the right area ensuring safe distancing from others. Desks are easily moved by bodies, and having these dots allow students to be responsible with their space. They use the dots as a visual to ensure all legs of desk are on their dot.
Students and adults like the positive saying dots for extra mindfulness. It gives everyone a feeling of goodness and forgiveness of others/oneself.
Students like using the 3D shapes to find faces by stamping the shape into playdoh. They get to see what 2D shape appears from 3D one when identifying the face.”
