Thank you for your generosity. It is so important to be able to have the right tools and enough of them for each of my students. These tools will help them engage in and gain a greater understanding of literacy and math skills to help prepare them for their next grade level.”

  • Enhancing Literacy With Take Home Book Bags!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations so that my class has the opportunity to have take home book bags. We have used the books in various ways, such as for read aloud in a whole group setting, parent/student nightly reading, as well as completing a variety of activities.

I have been able to introduce new genres to my students and give students the opportunities to answer higher level questions about the texts in their journals. I have also been able to provide interactive experiences for parents and their children with various games.

Students have been enjoying the books and get very excited when they see the book bags. The take home book bags allow students to make connections with their books while creating memories with their families.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bowman

  • Swivl Through the Minds of the Future

    Funded Apr 25, 2019

Thank you for your generous donations so that my class has the opportunity to have a swivl for the classroom. We have used the swivl in various ways, such as recording in a whole group setting, as well as students recording individually.

I have been able to record whole group lessons and re-watch them to help me become a better teacher. I have also been able to record lessons and send them to parents so that they can see what their students are learning in the classroom.

Students have been able to record themselves reading the decodable books. This gives them the opportunity to self-evaluate their reading skills. My class and I appreciate the ability to use this technology in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bowman

Through the use of a Swivl, students will be able to record themselves learning to read, write, and engage in math activities. The Swivl allows students to become more fluent readers because they will be able to hear themselves and correct their mistakes. Due to multiple playbacks where they are hearing and seeing what they are reading, comprehension skills will improve. A Swivl for handwriting can be used as a reference for students and parents. I would be able to record the handwriting lesson and then post it so that parents could use the video as a reference in helping their student with proper handwriting skills. I could record the process of using a graphic organizer and the way in which parents could help their student use a graphic organizer for writing. The use of a Swivl to engage students in math would mean recording lessons that include number sense activities. Counting, one to one correspondence, and patterning are just a few examples. A Swivl allows for all of this and so much more!
