Students who are encouraged to move are more aware and motivated learners. My students are often moving around in station rotation or working together to annotate and analyze literature. When my students move about the room, there is improved engagement and involvement. Allowing students to stand up and have a discussion at a stand-up desk, will bring a much-needed level of enthusiasm to the classroom. Students who sit all day are lethargic and sluggish. It's amazing to watch the energy level rise when kids are given the choice to learn in a variety of seating and standing arrangements. Moving increases the flow of ideas.
