  • Creating Leaders by Creating Good Readers

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Thanks to you my students had a class library and they were able to choose a book of their choice to keep. They also were able to read chapter books on grade level.

The new books were able to be used to recognize story elements in the classroom such as characterization, plots, setting and more. The students were able to pick out themes and read stories that related to our history and reading standards. They could also compare themselves to the characters and contrast their lives with the character's lives. Reading in my classroom brought a variety of cultures, themes, and creative writing based on the books they received.

    Thanks again for your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Holloway

  • Making Science and Math Come Alive

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

I cannot express enough gratitude to each of you for making my project a success. The printer is so useful in assisting me in uploading work to my students who are remote learners. They also send me their work and I can print it out and grade it and scan it back to them. The headset allows me to move around and not have to be stationary when teaching. My students and I are forever grateful for making our school year a little more productive than it would have been. The added features are really nice as well because I can scan photos in and we can create projects electronically and maybe a yearbook at the end of the school term. I also signed up for instant ink and that will help me keep the printer ready at all times. Our class feels very blessed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Holloway

The materials I have chosen will assist my students in learning in an excited and engaging way. My students can listen to music, play educational games to reinforce what I am teaching them in the classroom and give them visual and auditory stimulation to assist in committing the learning goals to memory. Since most of my students have learning struggles and short attention spans, these tools will give them a variety of ways to capture their attention, but produce the stimulation to continue learning difficult material. The students can use the rug to see the letters and numbers that they have difficulty with, and they can use the devices to do assignments through Flocabulary and other sites for learning with teacher assigned activities and for enjoyment.
