  • Clear, Sharp Visual Demos & Pencils for Art!

    Funded May 23, 2021

Thank you for funding my project. It will be so helpful to project my demonstrations more clearly and professionally. It will also be a relief to have a working electric sharpener again and not just the little hand held sharpeners! The Arts are always neglected when it comes to proper funding so thank you for filling in the gap. My students and I are looking forward to the arrival of these items.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hubela

  • Art via Tech

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting students with rich art content at home by funding a Nearpod account for this year!

Last Spring when schools went all remote it was a huge challenge to continue their arts education while they were not able to attend class in person. One of the learning platforms made available to teachers for free was Nearpod. This program had the most extensive art content and greatest ease of customization for my students. This year, the version I use most for the sizes of my remote classes and ability to save lessons I develop on the platform was no longer free. Thanks to your generosity I am able to continue teaching via this technology which is extremely interactive and engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hubela

  • Drawing Beyond Walls!

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

Thank you for showing my students how valued they are, and how valued their art experiences are. It was so exciting for them to see that every student in class would have a proper drawing board to secure their work, especially on our excursions to experience Art beyond the walls of our school.

As you can see in the photos we were fortunate just 2 weeks before COVID-19 shut us down, to be able to use them for our annual trip to our local Art Center's Exhibition where the children get to meet artists who live right in their community. They get to dialogue with the artists AND use the new drawing boards to secure their work as they draw Art that speaks to them personally.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hubela

This classroom project was brought to life by Perry and Donna Golkin Family Foundation and 6 other donors.
I like to get my young artists, especially my 4-8th graders, on field trips where they can experience exciting landscapes, cityscapes, and sometimes museum artifacts to draw. I have them lean on notebooks or some pieces of cardboard when they are doing their sketching. I was able to purchase a few drawing clipboards so that the students can secure 12 x 18 drawing paper when we venture out beyond our classroom and school walls. They love having a fresh vista to draw. Once I took them down to a historic fort on the water to sketch the buildings and a bridge connecting Queens to the Bronx. Some children were amazed to see evidence that they live on an island! Many don’t venture beyond their block or neighborhood unless our school takes them somewhere. Having these smooth drawing boards with clips to secure their paper would be so helpful for drawing in different locations. This order would give me a full class set next time we venture out which I hope to do in March.
