  • Writing Research is Rewarding

    Funded May 24, 2024

Thank you so much for the generous gift of technology for our classroom. Your gift has touched the lives of 2 classes of children. Both classes are made up of students from diverse backgrounds in which English is a new language. Many of these students do not have access to the internet or laptops to research and educate themselves on new topics that they might find interesting. You have gifted them with the skills they will need in middle school, high school, college and their future careers.

My students decided to research animals. Arctic animals in particular. Many of my students come from warm climate countries. They were curious how as to how

these animals adapted and survived in freezing climates. They posed a question. They happy utilized the two laptops you graciously donated to research the answers they were seeking. They then used the pencils (and sharpener) to write down their findings.

Thank you so very much for providing two years of my students with such an amazing opportunity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wygand

  • Fun Learning

    Funded May 21, 2020

My students were so grateful to receive a their own copy of Charlotte's Web. They loved reading along with me as I read a chapter to them over Google Meets. We discussed the main idea of each chapter.

Their faces brightened when they saw the stuffed pig we named Wilbur and the spider puppet they all called Charlotte. These stuffed animals helped bring the story to life.

We used the sequence flash cards to help us learn to sequence events. Then we sequenced the main parts of the story Charlotte's Web.

We used the shapes flash cards for our math unit on geometry. We identified how many sides, angles and corners on each shape. The class even made the shapes out of clay!

Thank you for thinking of us and our education!”

  • Creative Fun

    Funded May 21, 2020

My students were so excited we could finally meet on Google Meets with out a laptop that would malfunction and close the meet. We were able to hold lessons without technology interrupting us. As a teacher I was able to create fun and educational lessons and tasks using the chromebook.

They loved receiving clay and the magnetic writing boards in the mail. They used their magnetic boards to take notes during our read aloud and solve problems on during our math meets. The boards became a way to do self check ins. They would write the number of how they were feeling or how much they understood a lesson. 3 being good to go. 2 meaning ok. Whereas 1 meant help me.

They used the clay to create art works to express themselves and relax.

Thank you for caring for us and our education!”

  • Spark Art

    Funded May 21, 2020

My students were excited to choose a chapter book from The Adventures of Stink or Cam Jensen series. Their faces lit up when they were told that these books would be theirs to keep. I mailed the books and art supplies to them. They sent me pictures of them opening their packets. They were elated.

Each day the class read a chapter from their self selected book. We discussed their favorite parts on Google Meets. They painted pictures of the characters in their book. They also illustrated parts of the story on the construction paper with markers or crayons. They then shared their masterpieces with the class.

My class and I truly thank you for caring for us and our education.”

  • Creating Life Long Learner's with Coding

    Funded May 20, 2019

My students were in awe of the LEGO projects you gifted them with. They loved building the LEGO animals, researching their habitats and characteristics, and then "bringing them to life" with the power functions. Their favorite project was building the coding DUPLO train set. We built an urban, suburban, and rural area for the train to visit. They coded the train to make stops, sounds, and get water. This helped them better understand their communities social studies unit. They loved watching the train go through their coded set up. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Students simply succeed with STEAM!

    Funded May 20, 2019

My students loved researching their own self selected animal using the entry level Chromebook. Many of my students have never been on a laptop so it was quite an exciting experience for them. They used their research to write an informational report about their animal. After that they used the play dough or animal unifix cubes to create a 3-D model of their animal. They decided to take the project a step further and build homes for their animals using the magnets or bricks. As a final task they measured the size of the homes and counted how many magnets/bricks they needed to complete their homes.

The supplies you gifted us with helped build their knowledge and love for learning.”

    With gratitude,

I am hoping to bring in new STEAM projects and technology into my classroom because my students are motivated to learn by completing STEAM projects. They develop a love of learning and feel proud of their successes when completing STEAM tasks. We will build animals with clay and cubes and research them using technology. Then we will publish our reports using technology and writing. We will create structures from the magnets and measure them as as we learn about magnets. We will use the laptop for our research projects and to type up our reports. Thank you again for your consideration.
