Increased Strength, Agility, Flexibility & Artistry Through Gymnastics!
Funded Nov 30, 2019Thanks to your generous donations we were able to purchase new mats and implement a full gymnastics unit for students grades K-6. Last year we were limited on the activities we could offer students, but they were elated when I let them know we had new mats coming to expand the unit! With plenty of mats for all the kids, they were able to participate in multiple tumbling, traveling, jumping, vaulting and balancing activities!
Younger students learned new traveling challenges (moving from one end of the mat to the other in various ways). They also worked on proper jumping and landing techniques and learned some basic single balances (balancing poses done on their own).
Older students were challenged to perform more difficult travels such as shoulder and front rolls as well as jumping tasks from platforms and vaulting! At the end of the unit they then planned and performed their own gymnastics routine!
We can't thank you enough for making this possible!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 8 other donors.PE Equipment to Inspire and Challenge!
Funded Mar 29, 2019I was able to reveal our new equipment at a special assembly with all the students, staff and some parents present! The kids were SO excited and grateful to see the awesome fitness tools they would soon get their hands on thanks to your donations!
In the Spring we were able to have all students participate in a throwing, catching, fielding and hitting unit! Younger students were thrilled to get to use the over-sized bats & tees (many of them swinging a bat for the first time). Older students LOVED being able to participate in a variety of hitting and fielding games. Because we had plenty of bats, tees and balls, students were able to get lots of practice in during our class sessions! In our upcoming pickle ball unit, students will not have to take turns or share while they are practicing their skills! For our volleyball unit students will get to try out some super soft training balls that are lighter and easier to strike than a standard ball.
It made the kids feel so special to have new equipment to use & it has been a pleasure for me to see them enjoying these tools and develop their skills!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Magnuson
