  • New Year! New Band!

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

Where do I start? Your donations to the band program here at GLECPVA, has been I life savor, not only for the students, but for myself. We have gone through many changes from last year, that has caused issues with my teaching capability. The district was reconstituted, which for our school, caused me to have to take on all students from sixth to eighth grade. This very task was difficult because I had to find ways to make sure 250 students received instruments and binders and other equipment. If it were not for the donors I would be pretty stuck.

Therefore, I thank you all for believing in me to where now I have the opportunity to teach this number of students. Though I undercut myself numbers wise, I am still grateful for your contributions. For the future, I looks to create more projects to make sure everyone has what they need to be more productive in the field of music education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bolden

  • Revamp the Band

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

This has been a great year for my students, with the equipment the received. Though, I did not realize I would be getting more students, I am still grateful for the binders and pencils because my students, now, will not have to worry about buying supplies. They can focus on practicing and getting better, both on their instruments and their organizational skills. Having so many pencils helps a lot as well because of how I hear the complaints about never having them. Now, students will never have to go without. Once, again thank you for your contribution.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bolden

  • New Music

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you so much for the donations you have contributed. The new music you donated has played a part in building and developing the band program, especially since I have to revamp the program. This has been a trying time for the fine arts program, teaching vast groups of students. Currently, my students are just happy to be playing an instrument. My eighth graders have been the only group able to play one of the pieces of music. The good thing is they have something to work towards going into the following year.

The following steps for this project will involve further developing the program using the already donated music as a tool for growth. In addition, I plan to practice them with scale building while using the new music as a connector. Once again, thank you for your contributions to the program. Your contributions have been beneficial to their growth.”

  • So Fresh and So Clean

    Funded Oct 21, 2024

Thank you for your contributions to helping keep my room clean from bacteria and other issues that will be entering my room, due to the increase of students in my class this year. Your contributions will aid in the cleanliness and freshness of the band room. Once again thank you for your contributions.”

  • Primary Percussion

    Funded Mar 14, 2024

With a grateful heart, I must express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for your contribution to our primary program. Our students no longer have to focus on sharing instruments. We have not gone from three students sharing one instrument to having one-to-one instruments. Each primary student can work on activities like rhymic dictation without using other things, such as their hands and auxiliary instruments.

Since we are going through reform with our school district, our schedules are different from last year. Thus, we have more significant numbers of students per class. Therefore, I plan to get more primary percussion instruments catering to everyone. Recently, we had a teacher going on leave of absence, and I had to take two classes. Doing so has caused me to use middle school percussion instruments. Therefore, my goal is to obtain more primary percussion instruments to limit younger students' use of the larger instruments.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bolden

In our school, we have been trying to make it easier and safer for students to be able to play their instruments without the risk of covid-19. Last year, I obtained a grant from the "Mr. Hollands Opus" foundation, which gave me over $65,000 worth of instruments. Unfortunately, since Covid hit, my students haven't been able to touch these instruments. With these coverings, everyone can have a clear mind that instrumental safety as well as performance safety is occurring. Students and parents will know that students are performing in a safe environment.
