  • Food is Love 2.0

    "KB, do you have a snack?" These words have come my way a lot over the years, but far more now. Because of this project and your generosity, my students are able to feel comfortable and safe to come get a snack from me anytime. Instead of me going to dig in my purse or my desk drawer scavenging for a granola bar or something, they can pick from many assorted snacks in a metal locker with key in the corner of my classroom. The freedom and satisfaction can be observed easily, but the act also always follows with a "Thanks KB". And tho I am so happy to make them happy and not so hungry anymore, we really thank you.”

    The impact of your donations to my Food is Love project has been felt abundantly. When I first received all the big boxes of snacks, I was in awe. Not in 25 years of teaching had I ever experienced anything like this. All this for MY classroom and MY students???? Oh I was so excited...even as I asked for a couple students to help me carry them upstairs from the main office.

    As I cracked open each box, I showed a few of my students the goods. They could not believe their eyes!! All this for US?? Yep. Any time you need a little snack, I got you!

    Students come in my room at all times of the day, "KB, May I have a snack?" Yep...you know where they're at." It is such a burden-free blessing.

    Sometimes, when we have free-reading time or independent work time, each student can have a snack if they want. Popcorn? Granola bar? Fruit snacks?? Jerky?? Take your pick!

    We are all so so grateful. It helps to create such a warm, safe, and familial environment—which has always been and forever will be—so so important to me.”
