Many of my students come from low-income homes and do not come to school with money to purchase snacks for the vending machine. My goal is to ensure my students have a snack after lunch or tutorial after school. On the days my students do not have a snack, I would like to provide a snack for them. As an adult, I know it can be hard to focus hunger, so I can only imagine how some of my first graders' bellies feel during the second part of the day. Hunger is never something a child should have to deal with. Being able to have a classroom pantry would be AMAZING! This project is to ensure my first graders are energized and ready to learn for the second part of the day. At my school, all students eat breakfast and lunch for free. However, eating lunch in the morning and having to stretch in the afternoons can be very difficult for my first graders. Our snack supply is completely gone for the school year. We are asking for chips, cookies, fruit snacks, granola bars, juice, and mini cereal boxes to offer students needing this extra energy throughout the day. Thank you for considering our project!
